Mr. Allan Leeder

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2019 in his 91st year. Beloved husband of the late Betty for 64 years. Loving father of Judy Emery (Lorne), David Leeder (Alda) and Edna Keown (Bruce). Grandfather of Mathew Nigh (Margaret). He will be missed by his extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents Nellie Holmes Jackman and John Edward Leeder, and brothers Norman Ewart Chalk and Robert Kenneth Leeder.

Allan was born in Port Elgin, Ontario on May 18, 1928. In his early years he helped on the family farm and threshing business. In 1946 he went to Cuba for two and a half years to clear land for his cousin’s sugar cane plantation. Allan swept Betty off her feet and was married in 1952, then returned to Port Elgin where he continued to work on the family farm. In 1960, the family moved to Guelph where Allan took a job as a stationary engineer. He remained in that trade until he retired in 1993. He enjoyed his retirement years connecting with many people in his caring ways.

Allan’s family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Saturday, March 9 from 1-2 p.m. A Memorial Celebration of Allan’s Life will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to World Accord or Hospice Wellington. Donations can be made at the funeral home, or online donations and condolences can be sent at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
