Al was a friend and colleague, and I met this gentle but firm teacher when I started at St. James Jr High in 1973. He and I remained great colleagues and friends over the years. He was so easy to chat with, even after a long absence. I taught his daughter, Anna Maria, and our real connection came when Anna sang at Tina and my wedding at the present Basilica. It was such an honour with that St. James School Choir to be present. Al was always there for many and helped coach the javelin on our Lions T&F team. There are many memories of him as a House League Leader and teacher mentor as well; he could always bring calm to troubled times and he was so forgiving. May he find peace with the Lord Jesus and may his family and friends remember his gifts and presence in our lives - and celebrate his life accordingly. I am honoured that he blessed my life. God bless all.

My memories of Al are of a kind and gentle man. I had the pleasure of travelling to Toronto with Al as we both pursed our Masters in Education at OISE. Al always had an encouraging word even when studies seemed most difficult. I also remember him at Holy Rosary Church where he always greeted you with a smile.

My wife and I send our most sincerely condolences.
