She is happily reunited in heaven with her predeceased children Rosa Mary and Roberto as well as her mother Pietranila Capone of Italy. Adored Nonna to Giancarlo, Joshua, John, Martino, Eric, Nina, Noah, Ellise, Joseph, Evan, Michela, Chelsea and Robert. Predeceased by her sisters Fortunata Curra, Teresina Barbieri, and brother Nazzareno (Liberata) of Italy. Sister-in-law to the late Vincenzina and Giovanni Mammoliti, the late Francesco, and Anna Raso, of Italy, Vincenzo Raso and the late Antonietta, the late Concetta and Antonio Marchesano, Antonietta Garaffa and the late Angelo, the late Guiseppe Raso, and Filomena, Assunta and Pasquale Agostino.
Anna was born in Vibo Valentia, Italia on September 18th, 1938. After the war she moved to France for a year and a half. She then moved to the community of San Giorgio for 10 years before returning to Vibo Valentia. She met the love of her life Giovanni and they courted for 8 years before he emigrated to Canada in 1962, working for a year to pay for her voyage here. During the year apart Anna and Giovanni stayed in touch by writing pages and pages of letters to each other. She landed in Canada in September 1963 and they were married on December 7th at Church of Our Lady in Guelph. Anna loved to cook sumptuous feasts for her family and was an expert baker. Her homemade bread, pastas, and pizza were favourites of her children. She took great pride in her large family and though she suffered losses early and later in life Anna showed incredible strength and fortitude. She will be remembered as one who loved her children with great devotion and an unparalleled fierceness. She loved to teach us about her life in Italy and imparted her wisdom daily as we worked, played, suffered and celebrated together. Anna had an iron will, quick wit, sharp mind and incredible sense of humour. She loved to laugh. We are thankful that she is resting in the arms of Christ, at peace at last. Until we see you again. We love you.
Many thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of Guelph General Hospital.
