Calvin Amon Gibson, age 62, returned to his heavenly home on April 24, 2019 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Calvin was born on November 12, 1956 in Cane Hall, St. Vincent, to parents Estalita Gibson and Henry Crosby. He was an exceptionally talented craftsman and used his skills to better the lives and homes of countless families. He spent his entire life honing his skill-set and never left a job incomplete.
Calvin was a great family man and a loving father and grandfather. He was overjoyed to share in the lives of his children and grandchildren above all else. A little soft-spoken but always opinionated, Calvin was a wonderfully thoughtful man who would never hesitate to take care of others. His family and friends will always remember him as a generous, kind and selfless person. His smile could light up a room and the world will not be the same without him.
Calvin is survived by his children; son, Calvin Reece Gibson; his daughters Courtney and Jillian Gibson; his step-daughter, Celia Redman; his grandchildren, Savonnah, Zylen, Cairo and Noah Gibson; his siblings Ezekiel (better known as John), Antis and Vandora Gibson, and Anita, Sheldon, Terry and Sharon Williams. He is preceded in death by his brother Edwin Gibson and his parents.
A funeral is scheduled for Calvin on April 27, 2019, at 10am in Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Home – Hart Chapel with visitation from 8:30am until time of service. Oswald Zachariah, a church elder, will offer a tribute to Calvin. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Calvin’s life. The family would like to thank the staff at Guelph General Hospital and Hospice Wellington for proving loving and thoughtful care for Calvin in his last days. Flowers can be sent to Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Home – Hart Chapel at 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, ON, N1G 4X9.
