Obituary

FLETCHER, Donald Albert

The family of Donald Albert Fletcher of Guelph is saddened to announce his passing on September 23, 2020, at the age of 89 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Jamie (Grace) and Lisa (Rob), grandchildren; Denise and Adam, nieces and nephews; Cheryl, Bruce, Julie, Dianna and Gregg.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Geraldine, daughter (Dawn), granddaughter (Carolyn), sister (Norma), brother (Calvin) and his parents (Nancy and Albert).

Don was a proud lifelong resident of Guelph. He often talked of his younger days playing baseball and football with his brother Cal and their buddies along Yorkshire Street. In his later years, he enjoyed watching Canadian sports teams beat American teams, analyzing the stock market, going to the racetrack and eating a good meal. Above all, Don had a great sense of humour and made his family a priority, for that we will miss him greatly.

The family will hold a celebration at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Drop-In Centre or the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital would be appreciated by the family. Cards are available at the funeral home (519-822-4731), and condolences can be sent to www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.

I am saddened by the loss you bear. I knew Don from our many years of service as employees of the Canada Revenue Agency and, following retirement, we would meet once a month for lunch with fellow retirees. I was fortunate to have actually worked in the same Audit Team for a short period with Don and I can recall some wonderful road trips. There was always laughter when Don was around. I shall cherish the friendship I had with Don. May the good memories sustain us all through these difficult times. A great man has left this earth but will forever remain in our hearts. Dennis Watson

My condolences Jamie, Lisa & Family on your loss of a great Dad. I will always remember Don
from when we drove back & forth to CRA in Kitchener as I knew that I could get an update on
the previous days sports & markets plus an occasional good joke. Bob McClure

Don was truly one of the nicest people I knew at CRA, a real gentleman, kind, caring and funny. My sincere sympathy to the family on the loss of this wonderful man.

Not sure you remember me but we lived next door on Elmhurst.. so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad... my dad Bob Matheson passed away on the 9th of this month... I always remembered your dad telling me jokes he was a jovial and nice man. Your parents were great neighbors to my parents.
I hope as time passes you can smile at all the great memories..
