Passed away peacefully in his 83rd year at Hospice Wellington on August 5, 2019 after a long battle with renal cancer. Son of dearly departed Peter and Stella Turow.
Known simply as Ed, he was a man that was beloved amongst family and friends. Ed adored (and was adored) by his wife of almost 51 years, Gail (nee Power), who cared for him diligently throughout his illness. They were inseparable throughout the years, and were truly best friends.
He is survived by three sons that loved him immensely: Edward Jr. (Sandra), James (Tracy), and Anthony (Alexandra).
Ed was a doting grandfather to Davis and Avery, and living in close proximity to them meant that he would see them often. They were a source of great pride, and his day was never complete without talking to them. He also held a special place in his heart for Summer, and cherished every time he saw her.
He was also a dear brother to Leona, Len (Pat), Delores (Oreste), and Marlene (Sandor), while being an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
And lastly, he held a special place in his heart for Bailey, his late, loving canine companion of 17 years. Affectionately referred to as “my buddy”, his long life-span was a testament to how much love can keep the flame of life burning.
Those who knew Ed can attest to his quick wit, big heart and infectious laugh. He was a huge fan of the Guelph Storm, Toronto Blue Jays and (sometimes begrudgingly) Toronto Maple Leafs. He was also passionate about business and politics. More than anything though he was a family man and a great friend.
May he forever be reunited with dearly departed family and friends, while Bailey dutifully wags his tail by his side.
Those who want to celebrate Ed’s life are welcome to join the family at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Friday August 9, 2019 from 2-4 pm, or 7-9 pm.
