Obituary

SHAW, Peggy (nee Ramsey)--
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peggy on November 16, 2019 at age 76 years. Peggy was the beloved wife of Doug Shaw. She was a loving mother and will be dearly missed by her children Craig (Yuriko) and Vanessa (Oliver). Peggy’s grandchildren Galen, Alyssa, Noah, Lana and Madeleine were the joy of her life. She was predeceased by her parents Graham and Helen Ramsey, brother David Ramsey, and first husband Terry Johnston. Peggy was a woman of great faith and cherished her family and friends dearly.

She loved travelling, her gardens and flowers, and most of all she loved spending time at the family cottage on Crane Lake. Peggy was an active member of the church community at St. George’s Anglican Church and cherished her friends and many activities there. She was infinitely generous, caring and fun-loving. Her sudden departure has left us all feeling shocked, bereft, grateful for the privilege of knowing her, and yearning for one last chance to be with her again. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Private Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at St. George’s Anglican Church 99 Woolwich St., Guelph on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate Peggy’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario SPCA would be appreciated by the family. Donation cards are available at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N.,Guelph 519-822-4731 or online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com

Doug, Vanessa and Craig,
We had thirteen wonderful years with you, Mom and Grandma Helen at St. Matthew from 1983 to 1996.
Challenging and sad times, such as Terry’s illness and death brought us closer together.
Linda and I were deeply saddened at the news of Peggy’s death. Doug,, we were so pleased to sit in front of you and Peggy at Laura Parkes’ funeral at St. Matthew’s last Spring, and to be able to chat with you. I’m (Bill) the same age as Peggy was.
We trust you will feel God’s love and the support of family and friends as you celebrate Peggy’s life and mourn her death at St. George’s, tomorrow.
We send you our love and prayers and will be thinking of you as you face life without a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

I am very sad that my good friend and wonderful neighbour has left us.
Peggy and I shared information on plants in the spring and summer and she and my little dogs had a special relationship too. I will miss her walking back and forth to the mailbox passed my house. I am devastated. My condolences to her children, grandchildren and Doug.
