Obituary

Obituary for Mrs. Hilda Mann

Mann, Hilda

It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Hilda Mann on December 11, 2019 with her family by her side.
Hilda is finally reunited in heaven with her beloved Jack, her predeceased husband, and her caring son Bob (Janice).

She is survived by her two loyal sisters Bruna (late Lorenzo Polo), and Sylvia (Mel McPhee), with whom she shared many good memories and laughs. She will be dearly missed by her devoted daughter Shari and husband Graham Card. Hilda is cherished by her daughter in law Janice, her three grandchildren Emelia, Charlotta, and Conor, and his mom Siobhan. She is affectionately remembered by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Her family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Basilica of Our Lady, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Marymount Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations made to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by her family.

Hilda’s family would like to thank the nurses on the 7th floor at the Guelph General Hospital, as well as the compassionate staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington.

“Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand”

Graham Card

Hilda was an incredible person and contrary to conventional satire, she was actually quite an engaging mother-in-law. She had a wicked sense of humour, was kind, incredibly hardworking, and exceptionally dedicated to her grandchildren.
Last night we discussed a favourite Hilda anecdote. When Shari and I travelled for work, Hilda would come and stay at our house and look after our two little girls and our spaniel, Charlie. One time after returning, our little furry friend looked to have gained ¼ of his body mass ! It turns out, with Hilda’s poor hearing, she understood Charlie was supposed to get treats every time he went outside and came back in. Well it didn’t take Charlie long to figure out he could go out and fake pee 25 times a day and Hilda would give him a cookie on returning from every bathroom “break.”
We are going to miss her terribly.
