Obituary

HILL, James “Jamie”

Suddenly, on December 5th, 2019, Jamie Hill was taken from us as a result of a car accident in his 62nd year. Jamie, who grew up in Morriston, Ontario, was a Jack of all trades, working as a maintenance millwright at Con Cast Pipe for several years, mediator, an entrepreneur, a contractor and home builder. He was a very proud member of the South Bruce Peninsula firefighting team, working from station 40 in Sauble Beach. He also served as a past president of the Sauble Beach Chamber of Commerce. He was an enthusiastic traveler and was always looking forward to his next retreat to a sunny destination. Jamie is well known for being a quiet, hard-working ambassador for his community. We will remember his warm smile and his strong hands that seemed capable of building anything. Jamie is survived by the light of his life, his loving wife Susan, his mother Jean and by his children Sarah (Brent), Chantal (Sevug), Cale (Rucha), Liam and Hanna. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Logan, Julia, Blake, Nathan, London, Ruby, Ivy, Nixon and Rose. There are many fond memories shared by his sisters and brothers, Cathy (Greg), John (Cindy), Pat (Bill), Jayne (Barry), Rose (Blair), Charles (Janice),Chris (Michelle) and his brother-in-law Rob (Barbara) and his many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his father, Charles Hill.

A Celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, ON, on Wednesday December 18th at 2:00pm, followed by a reception. A second Celebration of Life will be held in Sauble Beach, Ontario, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to The Bruce Grey Perth Victim Services at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/18799

Our sincere condolences from Henry and Kathy Hanlon as well as our staff at Hanlon Well Drilling & Plumbing.
I had the pleasure of firstly meeting and sharing a spot at the bar at The Sauble Dunes with Jamie. Often I would sit beside Jamie share conversation over a couple pints
Later I would have the pleasure of working with Jamie as a contractor for Hira Homes.
I knew Jamie on a personal level as well as a professional level. Jamie was always a gentleman and no matter what the situation he always had a smile. He will be truly missed
God bless
Sincerely
Henry Hanlon

Heartfelt condolences to the Hill Family on the tragic passing of Jamie. My brothers and I were good friends with Jamie and his brother John back in our high school days. Lots of fun times working at the EnRoute Restaurant on the 401 and parties after hours! Jamie always had a smile on his face and was fondly known as Smiley.

I am so sad to hear of Jamie’s passing. RIP Jamie.
