Obituary

MANWELL, John Aldemere

Passed away peacefully, at the Guelph General Hospital, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. John Manwell, in his 87th year, was the beloved husband of Jean. He was the dear father of Carroll Ashton, Wesley Manwell (Melody Steed) and Karen (Alex) McComb. John was the loving grandfather of Carrie (Arnold) Leva, Keith Manwell, Sean (Kristy) Gaudon, Heather Taccone, Andrea (Matt) McComb and Scott (Melissa) Manwell and he was the dearest great-grandfather of Katrina, Aidan, Anson, Tanner, Kurtis, Mattea, Nella and Brielle. He is survived by his brother Gerald Manwell. John was predeceased by his parents Harold and Emma Manwell, by his three sisters and six brothers, by his son Daryl and by his daughter-in-law Cathy.

John had a great sense of humour and was sometimes called “Grinnin’ Jacob.” He will be missed by his many family and friends. John enjoyed music, Facebook and card games. He always had a kind heart and helped others whenever he could.

Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, to the Guelph Wish Fund for Children or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Cards are available at the funeral home (519-821-5077) and condolences may be sent to www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com

It is indeed a great loss, we will always appreciate and love the Manwell family. Words are insufficient to express our gratitude for their genuine friendship, selflessness, kindness and generosity over the past 47 years.
