Obituary for John Stephen Tonin

TONIN, John Stephen-

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Tonin on July 5th, 2022 at the age of 68. Loving husband to: Melanie Stevens for 20 years. Beloved father to: Richard, Jacob, and Genessa. Cherished Grandfather/Grandpa to: Claire Tonin. Predeceased by the late Giulio and Alice Tonin. Will be fondly remembered by all friends and extended family including
Albert Tami (Dear friend), Gloria Nye (Mother in law) and Teresina Sbrissa (aunt). John was mainly known for being an exceptional guitarist- playing lead in many different bands including LuLu’s Roadhouse Band, The Funland Band, and many others, as well as enjoying a diverse solo career. John loved nothing more than sharing music with his friends and family. John’s other life passion was Yoga. He was an inspiring and dedicated teacher of multiple disciplines. John was also a strong promoter of fitness and nutrition. He was an incredible role model to many. John really enjoyed being in nature; he loved going on long bike rides, hiking countless trails, and exploring to his hearts content. Johns proudest achievement was being a father to his three children, being a husband, and having a loving family. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at St. Andrews terrace for providing wonderful care until his final moments, ensuring a comfortable and dignified passing. His family was present in the days and moments leading up to his death (Melanie, Richard, Jacob, Genessa, and Albert). Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N, Guelph. The family will be receiving guests on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 10:00-12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John’s Parish, Guelph at 1:00PM. Entombment at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington would be greatly appreciated by the family.
