TURESKI, John - It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Tureski at the age of 89 in the early morning of January 6, 2021 at his residence in Guelph, Ontario. Predeceased by his son David and brother Peter, John is survived by his dearly loved wife Joyce (Wilkins), his children Lori Tureski, Marlena Tureski Blackman (Ralph), Trevor Tureski, his sister Helen (Smerchanski) and sister-in-law Helen Tureski, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. John was born to Jessie (Lysak) and William Tureski on November 28, 1931 in Rainy River, Ontario. He left home at a young age to apprentice as a diesel mechanic in Winnipeg and enjoyed a long career with Interprovincial Pipeline (now Enbridge). He and Joyce raised their family in Glenboro, Manitoba, Regina, Saskatchewan and Sarnia, Ontario and moved to Guelph in their later years. We are grateful to The Elliott Community staff for their compassionate care of Dad through many difficult months. There will not be a celebration of life at this time, but small family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice and condolences and memories shared online at

You are all in my heart as we say "so long, until we meet again" to your Dad who was not only my uncle, but my friend. I will always treasure the memories of our passionate conversations on so many topics, feasting, sharing, story telling and of course, the occasional toast, "na zdorovya". Love always. Joyce, Lori, Marlena and Trevor. I was so very sad to hear of John's passing- I have so many fond memories and stories of our time together in Sarnia over the past nearly 40 years! Joyce and John "adopted" me when I moved here to play with the symphony and didn't know anyone! Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time!

Dear Joyce, Marlena, Trevor and Lori

We’re all so sorry to hear of John’s passing. You were the best next door neighbours to have growing up in Regina. Although time and distance have come between us, please know that we are sending our love from afar. John’s unmistakable voice and booming laugh are still a vivid memory from all those years ago and we’re sure it will be greatly missed.

Dear Tureski Family,

It is hard to know what words to convey as I am truly saddened by the passing of your father. He was very much part of my childhood to adulthood. I have so many memories, some sad (I was a childhood friend and pallbearer when David passed) your family was very kind, others were very good as your mother and father always showed kindness and spoke kindly, thinking of others. In fact, I still have the mason bible and pin that he gave me when I became a Mason - many meals were shared with laughter and good stories. His pride in his children was unwavering and pleased to hear of successes (some disappointments). I think my own father will miss him greatly. Trust that he will not be forgotten and remembered God Bless Todd Heinzl

Dear Joyce and family,
Condolences to all the family on John’s passing.
I know John and Dad were friends and coworkers at IPL/Enbridge over many years. They were neighbours in Glenboro and Regina and kept in touch over the years when John and Joyce visited in Winnipeg. Arnie is now 100 yrs. old, living in Deer Lodge Center. He has some dementia but is doing very well.
We send our sympathies,
Lorene and John Bjornson and Arnie Roxton
