I'm very saddened to learn this news. Judith was a graduate student in political science at the University of Toronto in the late 1980s. She was known to be among the most lively, hard-working and creative teaching assistants in the department. I had the good fortune of working with her in POL100Y, Introduction to Canadian Politics, where undergraduates competed to be in her tutorials. Judith went on to be a talented course instructor and researcher in her own right. She had a zest for fun and a knack for finding humour in life that continue to inspire me.

I have wonderful memories of many engaging discussions with Dr. McKenzie during my years in the political science department at the University of Guelph. She was a very supportive of my graduate work and helped me progress in many ways during those formative years. We also had a personal connection through my family (Sanderson family) that grew up in Windsor and went to Walkerville with her. I'm saddened to hear this news, and send my condolences to family and friends.

I took a few courses with Dr. McKenzie at the University of Guelph and she supervised my undergrad thesis. I took her classes in part because of her commitment to women's rights and the environment. She had a disarming way about her; she made me and other students feel that our opinions counted and were valid. I am very sorry to hear of her passing and will always remember her fondly.
