Wendy Lawrence

I am writing to send condolences to Ken's family members.
Ken worked as an electrical engineer for many years with our father, Stan Lawrence. After Canadian General Electric moved part of its operations from Toronto to Guelph, the Katchanoskis and our family became neighbours as well as close friends. Ken and Stan sometimes carpooled to work as colleagues, and played golf together at the Cutten Club, beside which they had their homes.

I recall Ken as a caring person; it was he who quietly gave a tip when our elderly father was feeling hesitant about driving his car and should likely give it up. (I think that there may have been an ongoing rivalry about cars between Ken and Stan.) Ken was also thoughtful, and liked to discuss politics and public affairs. I recall him as being cheerful too, with a good sense of humour that enjoyed puns.

I know that in recent years he had health challenges that required care-giving elsewhere. But I hope that the family can take comfort in knowing that he lived a long and productive life. My memories are of him 'in his prime', and I will continue to cherish them.

With sympathies,
Wendy Lawrence (for the Lawrence family, including brother & sister-in-law John & Mary)
