Obituary

Valeriote, Larry – (Founder of Valeriote’s Market)
December 15, 1954 – January 21, 2021

Passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 21, 2021 after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in August 2019. Larry Valeriote in his 67th year, was the beloved husband of Marti (DiCarlo) Valeriote for 41 years. He was the loving father of Nate (Justine), Wes and Alexandra. Larry was the son of the late Dominic (1997) and the late Evelyn (Hoag) Valeriote (2018) and the dear brother of Charles, Stephen, and Peter (Laurie). He was the dear brother-in-law of Brad DiCarlo (Jeannetta), Mark DiCarlo (Peggy) and Chris DiCarlo (Linda).
Larry was uncle to many nieces and nephews.

After 29 years of working in the Corporate world, Larry decided to be his own boss and founded Valeriote’s market where he loved every minute, greeting customers with a smile. He created a staple within the neighbourhood providing the best quality food for all. Retiring after ten years, he left the Market in the capable hands of his business partner Brian Schmeler.

Family meant everything to him and this was lovingly shown when he hosted weekly Thursday Valeriote nights and Sunday DiCarlo nights which would always consist of good food and lots of wine and tons of laughter. He was a very fit and active man, with a great passion for fishing, golfing, hiking and biking. Annual trips to Stoney Lake and Southampton spent with many friends and relatives were the highlight of his years.

Larry had an amazing relationship with the Lord and we know that he is now in his loving arms.

Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, January 23, 2021 and on Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 1 – 5 p.m. Due to Covid 19 restriction, guests must RSVP their attendance on the funeral home website or calling the funeral home 519 -822-4731 and must keep physical distance, and must wear a mask. I have just learned of Larry's passing....
I am so sorry to hear this news. I've been hoping and waiting to bump into him in the store to say hi....wish him well, share a funny story.
I think he was the smiliest man I've ever met; kind hearted, generous. What I appreciated about Larry was the way he showed up....ever open hearted, sparkling eyes and a happy greeting....no matter how I showed up, he was smiling.
I will miss Larry.
My condolences to his beautiful family.
