Obituary

Wilson, Richard Francis
Passed away peacefully in Guelph on February 9, 2019. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1922 to George F. Wilson and Martha Rutledge Wilson. He was brother to George Foster Wilson and Phoebe Wilson Larsen. Richard was married to Frances Elizabeth (Betty) Spry Wilson. Uncle Richard is fondly remembered by family and friends on both sides of the US Canadian border. Richard earned an Accounting degree from Pace Institute (now a University) in New York. After retirement as an accountant for Pfizer, he and Betty moved to her hometown of Guelph, Ontario in 1984.
Richard will be remembered by all as a gentle, kind, generous man of great integrity and faith. Richard was well known for his story telling especially of his childhood in the streets of Brooklyn, being a child of Irish parents, of military boot camp in Texas, of serving overseas during WW11 as a US medic soldier and of working in New York, Miami and South America. Richard received Battle Stars for the Battle of Normandy and Battle of the Bulge.

Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 762 Woolwich St, Guelph on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Hospice Wellington. Donation cards are available at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home (519-821-5077), or online donations and condolences may be left at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.

I was so sorry to come back from Florida and find out you had passed away Richard. I was privileged to live beside the Wilsons for 6 years on Westward Circle . They were so kind to me as a new widow when I moved in. I will cherish the memories of both Richard and Betty and retell some of his stories of his youth to others. Bless you Ann and Barry for your care and follow up. Blessings, Betty Anne McBride
