UMBERTO MAYA SCHWARTZENTRUBER MASFERRER

July 9, 1999 - January 9, 2021

ENGLISH:
Umberto Maya Schwartzentruber Masferrer died suddenly on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Maya was born on July 9, 1999 in Toronto. He is survived by his parents Lorna Schwartzentruber and Roberto Masferrer of Guelph, Ontario and his maternal grandparents Hubert and Mary Schwartzentruber of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Lovingly remembered by aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada and El Salvador. Maya was proud to identify himself as a Salvadoran. He was committed to his role as Sailor 2nd Class (S2) with the Royal Canadian Navy as a reservist. His friendships from school, the Air Cadets and the Reserves were a central part of his life and community. His passions included diving, physical fitness and his beloved dog Hooch. Maya’s adventurous spirit enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. Details regarding a celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sanctuary Scholars Program Bursary at York University (https://giving.yorku.ca/Maya) are welcomed.

Umberto Maya Schwartzentruber Masferrer murió repentinamente el sábado 9 de enero de 2021. Maya nació el 9 de julio de 1999 en Toronto. Le sobreviven sus padres, Lorna Schwartzentruber y Roberto Masferrer de Guelph, Ontario; y sus abuelos maternos, Hubert y Mary Schwartzentruber de Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Recordado con cariño por tías, tíos y primos en Canadá y El Salvador. Maya estaba orgulloso de identificarse a sí mismo como salvadoreño. Estaba comprometido con su papel de marinero de segunda clase (S2) con la Royal Canadian Navy como reservista. Sus amistades de la escuela, los Air Cadets y las Reservas fueron una parte central de su vida y comunidad. Sus pasiones incluían el buceo, la aptitud física y su querido perro, Hooch. Dear Lorna and Roberto my deepest condolences, I remember the 9 years old boy that I met and the handsome young men that I saw standing behind me in a bank line and recognized me after all this years. He was so polite . My every day prayers for God’s strength, comfort and healing.
